How to convert a Word document into an XML file? We know that Word stores documents as .docx files, which are actually a ZIP file containing a number of XML files. Can I store a Word document into a single XML file with no ZIP compression?

Yes, you can easily convert a Word document into a single XML file
without ZIP compression with Word in 4 steps:
1. Open your word document (extension .docx) in Word.
2. Click the File menu, then click Save As menu item. You will see the "Save As" box showing up.
3. In the "Save as type:" field, select "Word XML Document (*.xml)" option from the dropdown list.
4. Click the Save button. A single XML file will be created to represent the original Word document.
