✍: FYIcenter.com
If you are having trouble getting directory listing with the FTP command-line tool on Windows,
you need open the firewall on your computer to allow incoming data connection requests:
1. Go to "Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall > Advanced Settings". You see "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" window showing up.
2. Click "Inbound Rules". You see a list of Inbound Rules showing up.
3. Scroll down on the list, find and double-click on the "File Transfer Program TCP - Public" rule. The rule properties showing up.
4. Select the "Allow the connection" option and click "OK" to save the change. You see this rule changed from "Block" to "Allow".
5. Start the "ftp" tool again. You should be able to get directory listing and transfer files now.
If you are still having trouble, you may try to open other File Transfer Program firewall rules too.
