A

OpenOffice Draw offers the following editing functions for end points on connected lines and curves.

1. Select a line or curve.

2. Open "View > Toolbars > End Points".

3. Click on the "End Points" icon in the toolbar. You see all end points highlighted.

3. Click on an end point of the line or curve. You see the following functions available as icons in the "End Points" toolbar from left to right:

  • End Points - Allows you to switch between end point view and object position view.
  • Move Points - Allows you to move an end point to a new location.
  • Insert Points - Allows you to insert a new end point on any location of the line or curve.
  • Delete Points - Allows you to delete an end point. You can also delete the selected end point by pressing the "Delete" key.
  • Split Curve - Allows you to split the line or curve into two at the selected end point.
  • Convert to Curve - Allows you to convert straight line to curve or curve to straight line on the forward side of the selected end point.
  • Corner Point - Allows you to convert the selected end point to a corner point with slopes pointing to neighboring end points on both sides. This also breaks slopes on both sides from a single straight line into two, allowing you to change them separately.
  • Smooth Transition - Allows you to change slope angles on both sides of the selected end point to create a smooth curve transition. This joins slopes on both sides into a single straight line.
  • Symmetric Transition - Allows you to change slope angles and lengths on both sides of the selected end point to create a smooth and symmetric curve transition. This joins slopes on both sides into a single straight line and sets them to the same length.
  • Join Bézier - Allows you to connect both ends of the line or curve with a straight line.
  • Eliminate Points - Allows you to mark the selected end point for deletion. Using "Delete Points" function is much easier.
