If you open the Task Manager in Google Chrome on a Windows system as described in the previous tutorial, you see a list of tasks initiated by Google Chrome. For example:

1. Run Google Chrome on Windows and open the Task Manager by press Shift+Esc keys.

2. Go to https://www.youtube.com and play a short video.

3. Look at the task list on the Task Manager. You see the following task list:

Task Memory CPU Network Process ID
====                   ======   ===     =======   ==========
Browser              120,072K   2.7           0        10564
GPU Process           67,656K   0.8           0        11060
Tab: Technology FAQ    89,304K   0.8           0         5860
Tab: Family Guy       95,204K   2.7   55.7 KB/s         6280

Each task in the task list represents a running process in the Windows system:

  • Browser - This is the main process of Google Chrome, which consumes a large amount of memory.
  • GPU Process - This is a child process that handles GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) work.
  • Tab: Technology FAQ - This is a child process that represents a browser tab showing a Website.
  • Tab: Family Guy - This is a child process that represents a browser tab playing a YouTube video, consumes a large amount of network traffic..
