A Tracker in BitTorrent is a special server that acts like a traffic cop directing BitTorrent data traffic between seeders and downloaders in a Swarm.

Peers (seeders and downloaders) report information to the tracker periodically and in exchange, receive information about other Peers to which they can connect in the same Swarm.

The tracker is not directly involved in the data transfer and does not have a copy of the file. It only receives information from the Peers.
