Facebook Location Service, also called Location Access, is a setting on your phone or other mobile devices.

Location Service allows Facebook to track your locations, which helps Facebook provide you with location features, including allowing you to post content that's tagged with your location, find places and Wi-Fi nearby, and use Nearby Friends.

You can turn off Location Service at any time. When Location Service is turned off, Facebook won't add new information to the Location History section of your Activity Log, even if you've turned on Location History.
