it's a non breakable space. it acts like a normal space, but when you force a sentence to break, it acts as a letter, so the two words that surround it are read by Word as one single word (and it doesn't break)

What is a hollow dot that shows in the formatting marks. it generally appears when text is copied from the internet for example.
